Born on December 11th 1974, Mikey Hall joined Stenhousemuir from Edinburgh United in March 1998. 38 appearances (34 League and 4 Cup) and 1 goal later, Mikey was transferred to East Stirling in time for the 2001/2002 season. Mikey spent two season with the Firs Park side, making 51 League appearances and 8 Cup appearances and again, notching one goal. Well, one goal FOR the Shire that is, but more on that later!

Mikey was rescued from gravel city, when Jim Moffat swooped for the 6 foot 1 inch defender before the start of last season, where he was an ever present, playing in all 36 League and 5 Cup games and finding his goalscoring touch with 4 goals, becoming a fans' favourite in the process.

This season has seen Mikey continue his fine vein of form and, in AFTNs opinion, is one of the best central defenders in the lower leagues, playing in all 24 games so far and netting 3 times.

Mikey kindly took time out to talk to AFTN and here's what he had to say:

AFTN: DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST EAST FIFE GOAL? AN OG FOR EAST STIRLING AGAINST US IF MEMORY SERVES US RIGHT!

MH: I scored the winner just before I joined. I scored more own goals for the Shire than I did for them.

AFTN: WHEN PLAYING FOR THE SHIRE, DID YOU EVER THINK YOU'D REACH THE GIDDY HEIGHTS OF PLAYING FOR THE METHIL MILAN?

MH: The season I left the Shire we actually finished above East Fife, but the way that last season and this season have went means it was the right decision. And East Fife offered me more money!

AFTN: WHAT'S YOUR RECOLLECTIONS OF THE PROMOTION DAY LAST SEASON?

MH: Apart from someone saying that Peterhead had equalised?! It was a great day and the highlight of my career and having my boys there made it perfect.

AFTN: PROMOTION ASIDE, WHAT'S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR EAST FIFE CAREER SO FAR?

MH: The Centenary game against Hearts

AFTN: OK, HERE'S A QUANDARY FOR YOU. AS AN EAST FIFE PLAYER AND A LIFELONG HEARTS FAN WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATION. IT'S THE SCOTTISH CUP FINAL AT HAMPDEN. EAST FIFE V HEARTS. IT'S THE LAST MINUTE AND IT'S 0-0 AND EAST FIFE HAVE A CORNER. THE BALL'S FLOATED IN TO THE BOX AND IT'S GOING STRAIGHT FOR YOU AND YOU'RE GOING TO SCORE. WOULD YOU SCORE THE WINNER AND BEAT YOUR CHILDHOOD TEAM, SHATTERING THE HOPES OF JAMBOS EVERYWHERE?

MH: Score the goal and get the win bonus! Oh and the medal! There would be no divided loyalties.

AFTN: THAT'S WHAT WE WANTED TO HERE! SO AS A HEARTS FAN, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A MANAGER THAT THE FIFE FAITHFUL HATE AND DESPISE?!?!

MH: I didn't realise he was so despised, so I will watch what I say about him. Apart from that he was one of my boyhood heroes!

AFTN: YOU WERE IN THE PAPERS EARLIER IN THE SEASON FOR MISSING THURSDAY NIGHT TRAINING, WHICH JIM MOFFAT HAD OKAYED. SO HOW WAS BORDEAUX?!

MH: Bordeaux was brilliant. The trip of a lifetime. The result and company made the trip. Don't think I would do it again though so close to a game!

AFTN: YOU'VE SCORED A FEW GOALS SO FAR THIS SEASON, INCLUDING THE VITAL EQUALISER UP AT FORFAR IN THE CUP. SO ARE YOU BETTER WITH YOUR ARSE OR YOUR HEAD?!?!

MH: Don't think there is much difference! My arse is probably better than my headering though.

AFTN: WHAT'S BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE EAST FIFE GOAL TO DATE?

MH: The header I scored at Peterhead just before Christmas 2002. We were 2-0 down and ended up getting a vital draw.

AFTN: WE'LL ASK YOU SOME TYPICAL FOOTBALLING QUESTIONS NOW. WHO'S BEEN THE BEST PLAYER YOU'VE PLAYED WITH?

MH: Davie Lorimer at East Stirling.

AFTN: And against?

MH: Craig Brewster.

AFTN: WHAT ABOUT FAVOURITE AND WORST AWAY GROUNDS TO PLAY AT?

MH: Tynecastle would be my favourite and Cliftonhill the worst.

AFTN: OK, IT'S TIME TO GET INSIDE YOUR PSYCHE NOW AND SEE WHAT MAKES MIKEY HALL TICK. SO HERE'S SOME PYSCHOLOGICAL QUESTIONING FOR YOU. LORD OF THE RINGS OR STAR WARS?

MH: Star Wars.

AFTN: ROCK OR POP?

MH: Rock

AFTN: INDIAN OR CHINESE?

MH: Indian.

AFTN: HALF EMPTY OR HALF FULL?

MH: Hall full.

AFTN: DEVOLUTION OR INDEPENDENCE?

MH: Independence.

AFTN: HMMM, OK, WE'LL SEND THOSE ANSWERS OFF TO AFTN'S REGULAR PYSCHOANALYST FOR THE RESULTS AND GET BACK TO YOU.

AFTN: BACK TO FOOTBALLING MATTERS NOW THEN. DO YOU HAVE A MESSAGE FOR THE FIFE FANS?

MH: Just thanks for the support since I joined. The support away from home especially is brilliant and hopefully long may it continue.

AFTN: DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE EAST FIFE SONG FROM THE TERRACES?

MH: The song they sing about me!

AFTN: FINALLY MIKEY, WHAT'S YOUR FUTURE ASPIRATIONS IN THE GAME?

MH: To play as long as possible, hopefully with East Fife and hopefully to win a League medal as well. After that it will be off to the golf course!

AFTN: WELL, WE AT AFTN ALL HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A LONG AND PROSPEROUS CAREER AT THE MIGHTY FIFE. LET'S HOPE THAT THAT HAMPDEN SCENARIO MIGHT COME TRUE ONE DAY! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO SPEAK TO US MIKEY AND GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON AND BEYOND.
